Alyzande at Anglesey Abbey.I am a writer and storyteller.

My grandfather told me that as a 5 year old I would always gather friends around me and tell them wild and wonderful enthralling stories. In grammar school, I remember one of my needlework teachers confiscating one of my many notebooks, disapproving of my choice of writing theme. My school friends, however, loved my trashy novels!

At my senior school, I won a prize for short story writing. Then I gave up for a long time, instead deciding to read, read read. I own more than a thousand books - I used to have plenty of room in our house until I filled it full of books! As a teenager, I had a very vivid image of myself, sat at a gabled window, gazing across a beautiful landscape, writing famous stories. And today, I live in a house with a lovely gabled window.

This new novel, based on the story of the Earl of Rutland, the King's boyfriend, and a family of cunning women, is gradually and wonderfully taking shape before my eyes. It's a historical novel, revolving around court scandals and murder.
